ON-LINE CATALOG

An on-line library catalog is a register of bibliographic items in the IUS Library which is available in machine-readable form. A bibliographic item can be any information entity e.g., books, computer files, graphics, cartographic materials, webpage links etc.
In March 2016 the cataloging process started by using new software equipped with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).  It is the latest technology to be used in library theft detection systems. RFID-based systems are tracking systems that combine security with more efficient tracking of materials throughout the library, including easier and faster charge and discharge, inventorying, and materials handling.
Until this period the Library holdings were processed and classified using a program that was developed by the IUS IT Center.
On-line catalog helps the users of the IUS Library in the following ways:

  • They can search a catalog from everywhere by choosing an author's name, a title of publication, a keyword...,
  • It is easy to check availability of the item, loan period and location on the shelves in the Library.

Bibliographical records of IUS Library items are searchable at:  http://catalog.ius.edu.ba
